Due to the growing problems in Thailand, the Bangkok rock festival has been called off, according to the official festival website. This means the Manics appearance on the 30th November is cancelled.

New Album News

According to the official site, the Manics have been recording songs for their new album, with a tentative April/May 2009 release date. The album is being produced by Steve Albini, and all the songs are lyrics by Richey Edwards, based on those he left behind. The working titles are “Journal For Plague Lovers” and “I Know I Believe In Nothing But It Is My Nothing”.

A work-in-progress version of the Manics documentary ‘No Manifesto’ will be screened at the Sheffield Doc/Fest on 8th November 2008. More information can be found here. Tickets are priced £5.50.

Asian Tour Dates

It has been advertised that the Manics are to play at least three dates in Asia in November, in Singapore (24th November), Hong Kong (26th November) and Bangkok (30th November).

These dates are yet to be officially confirmed, but keep an eye on the gig threads in the forum for more information and links to the relevant ticket websites.

Manics to play Forever Heavenly Festival

The Manics are to play the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank, London on the 12th September as part of the Forever Heavenly Festival. This gig will also feature Doves and Cherry Ghost, and is part of a weekend of gigs celebrating 18 years of the Heavenly record label.

The Manics are set to play just the 6 songs they recorded on the Heavenly label in 1991, namely Motown Junk, You Love Us, Spectators Of Suicide, Starlover, Sorrow16 and We Her Majesty’s Prisoners.

Manics announced for FM4 Frequency Festival

According to the official festival site, the Manics are set to appear at the FM4 Frequency Festival which runs from 14th-16th August in Salzburgring, Austria. They are billed to play the ‘Race Stage’, on a day to be announced.
