DC was packed!! You could tell how happy both bands were to be playing to a full room singing every word. Brett said it was the best crowd they had all tour and that they didn’t really know what to expect (probably because the venue isn’t actually in DC), but our boys were absolutely loving it. A girl and her dad got yelled “Faster” enough for James to give us a verse, and in general it felt like home turf for them. Just an awesome, awesome night!!!

Philadelphia was really good. Unfortunately a lot of empty seats, but good energy regardless. Sanctuary back in the set? And James did the snippet for Fastet again. He laughed “are you the same guy as yesterday?!”. Also a nice joke about Michele Obama, she was there right before them, and they couldn’t properly sound check.

So technically, Michele Obama opened for Manic Street Preachers.

One random tour thought. If they are using the NT backdrop, then did their video screens lose out to transportation costs on the tour? Not complaining and they haven't always played alongside videoscreens.

They don’t use them in the US. Too expensive I would guess.

They didn't even have that backdrop in Vancouver and Seattle.

After stopped thinking about the length of it either way when folded up and how to transport their backdrop. Tonight's (middle of night GMT) gig is their last headline of America before a support (Do they seem like support slots or more festival continual?) slot for the last time and then that Canadian finish.
All I've read is Brett is pissed off over "The London" part. But we've never saw James look as happy and in control of the crowd for ages. Brett Anderson goes further as frontman. But rather than singing along, you'd probably burst out laughing if Nicky or James ran off the stage into the front row.

Benn following the tour closely on YouTube. The full video that someone posted is absolutely fantastic. Really enjoyed spending the evening enjoying James and his guitars up close. James' playing and singing have been incredible on all the YouTube videos I've checked out. I think La Tristesse is my favourite of the "hits" on this tour though the little changes to the solo at the end of Motorcycle are also fantastic. As always, I think the theory stands up that James plays that 5% extra when it's not a full 5 piece backing guitar and keyboard set up. He is so so good.

NY gig was great. Borderline was the cover. https://youtu.be/MSO8KKZ7xC4
Good energy, crowd was okay, quite a lot of suede fans left.
As James said, “it’s a Monday” followed by a laugh.
During a design for life Nicky repeated this may be the last time.

It's been a great tour for the UK to follow vicariously! I think if the tour makes losses then the band would hopefully have got great memories out of it. Shocking that any made.
And... Yeah. Just have the keyboards as backing tracks from now on. I want some of that 5% if it's available, cheers!
It's possible to like both Suede and the Manics. They fit together as a night out of live music.
What's wrong with people?!
EDIT: I HAVE NO INFO ON BREAKING EVEN OR LOSSES ON THIS TOUR!!! At least they didn't take an orchestra on tour with them. And the backdrop flag hangs half mast.

It was a great evening! But quite worrying that both Brett and Nicky talked about this being the "last time". Last time what? In the US?

Yup, but take what Nick says with a bit of salt. James said the impetus for this tour was that they might not be able to (,afford to) do this again. But where's there a will there's a way. I reckon Suede were brought on to either spread the costs our try to get a wider audience to buy the tickets.

I had no idea that they could be losing money on the tour, that's nuts.

I'm not 100% sure they are. Brexit related costs clearly prohibiting costly Europe tours.
Did read one review saying next time make it more of a Britpop ticket by adding Pulp etc!
Britpop and Manics being the new "Welsh/English" American press used to ask the band!
Well even if there doesn't appear to be a reported sell out. The tour's still able to happen.
So they must be doing well.
Never say never to last chance to see anyway.
Although I think that might be the case for The London Suede.

They generally lose money on US tours, probably not a huge amount and they enjoy touring states enough to be worth it, but it probably gets more with each tour as the fan base ages out.

Again they are a practical band, if they really want to tour the US again they'll find a way, it's just a matter of scale.
