Here's some hopefully decent info to wipe away the misery
4,571 of Resistance Is Futile’s 24,144 sales were on 12-inch, and it duly debuts atop the vinyl album chart, with marginally fewer sales than the rest of the Top 5 combined, while first single International Blue tops the vinyl singles chart (655 sales).
But where the hell does one buy the IB single vinyl on its own??

Bloody hell. I haven't bought one copy yet. Long story. But I am their second wind here to help them get to number 1 next week. Can only stretch to the 1 copy though not the 5" triangular shaped purple edition or whatever.

I still want a balloon though. From Pennywise? Probably knowing my luck

At the end of the day, it's a very good album, I really like it, I am happy that it exists and pleased my favourite band got another No.2 album. Let's hope it can sell well over time, but I see it disappearing from the top 100 in about 3 weeks, and that'll be it, picking up odd sales here and there
Be interesting to see their reaction on Sunday Brunch of all things... should have been on last week for extra promo

Charts have changed a lot haven’t they eh? What did they end up selling about 21,000 copies? With so many people buying several formats I’m just gonna guess that we’re looking at about 7,000 customers. Even if Manchester Arena is only half full, that’ll still be a fair bit more than that. Wonder how many people are gonna be seeing em on this tour who’ve never bought an album or single.

Ah c'mon most will be like me...just needing to get their b-sides into gear

Do all these frilly formats count for the charts? Or do they just count the standard? Do many of the long standing big acts make most of their money from touring these days? With so many ways to listen to what you want when you want - Spotify, YouTube....whatever else I guess sales no longer indicate popularity...I wonder if we'll see any of the artists starting out today build a career like the manics

Sadly, repeated listens have just confirmed the early impressions....it sounds like a bside collection or a poor man's Postcards. I'm not sure I can even see myself listening to it much again. Which is sad, because I think International Blue is amazing. If only the album had been more like it...
