What did you think when you first heard Lifeblood?

Yeah, I'm copying StephenG.

It was the first album I managed to get over the counter the minute it went onsale, which was silly cos I was working nights at the time.

Listened to it three times and kept thinking "this has gotta be a grower.." and just knowing it was gonna be a commercial failure and hoping they weren't gonna call it a day because of it. Turns out it was a grower.

THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING

I physically jumped out of my chair and started bouncing around the room in ecstacy when 1985's chorus first hit. Not kidding.

I loved the first half, but thought the last four or five songs were a bit of a let down. They did grow on me eventually.

I think I quite thought 'omg, this is great' and 'I'm glad Nixon is NOT the best song, just a poor choice for a single'.

I didn't like it. It had no vitality to it. The fact that it had a song on it, the chorus to which was 'This is a song, this is a song...' made me despair. How did it ever come to this!? Mostly I couldn't stand the thought that such a great band were going to bow out with such a half-arsed whimper.

The two albums which followed blew my socks off, so I can enjoy LB now without the threat of it being their last will and testament. 'Empty Souls' is still shite, though...

That 1985 was heroically good.

i quite liked it, bar "emily", "always/never" and "fragments".
my opinion hasn't changed a single bit.

and i've believed since day one that "1985" is amongst the finest things thery've put to record.

Got TLORN on now. Even James sounds like he's not interested. It's a strange song, don't really know why it exists.

Yep. Should have been a single and the first single off the album too. I lose interest towards the end of the album. I hate Glasnost and Emily.

I love TLORN, James's voice is very interesting on it.

I think he's got a really cold voice on that... Kinda like what he was talking about with Faster on THB dvd. I thought he sounded cold and disinterested, but thinking about that interview, maybe it was a deliberate technique?

Still think TLORN is the low point of the album though, if not their career. Even so, hats off to em for having the balls to try something different.

I felt embarrassed for them and it resulted in me losing interest and faith in them for a while.

I like it a lot more now but it's still their worst album for me.
